2023 NHBA Presidents Letter

Dear North Hampton Business Owner,

Happy New Year! We welcome 2023 with a bright outlook for our North Hampton business community. This year is more promising despite the pandemic related challenges that we still face. Our business community continues to grow and local residential development in adjacent towns provide opportunities for our service, food, and retail sectors!

Thanks to you, our members, for your continued support of our organization! The North Hampton Business Association is the only local organization that advocates for OUR businesses in OUR local community! Support from our membership has in return, allowed us to provide the NHBA Scholarship for 2022, host our Candidates Forum, sponsor a summer Bandstand Concert, and make modest donations for the Memorial Day Barbecue and the Winnacunnet High School Chem Free graduation event.

Early in 2022 the NHBA began discussions with town officials and members of the Planning Board to allow restaurants to continue simplified outdoor dining applications instituted by Governor’s orders during the pandemic. Surrounding towns had already revised and simplified their applications to assist restaurant owners continue a successful practice. NHBA presentations before the Selectboard and subsequent appearances before the Planning Board resulted in adopted temporary changes to the Minor Site Review. Although it was disappointing these measures were not permanent- it allowed our local restaurants to pursue Outdoor Dining beginning in May-Nov during 2022. The hope is more restaurants can pursue permanent permitting over this winter. More details can be found on the NHBA website-www.nhba- local.com

One of the highlights this past fall was the partnership with Town Recreation Director, Joe Manzi to bring back the Scarecrow Contest following a pandemic lull! We had a home run with engagement from over 32 of our local business members, and many of our residents participating! The towns people were so happy to see your creations; they were voting for YOU and your scarecrows! Thank you!

2023 looks promising as we strive towards making North Hampton a welcoming place to do business. We continue to welcome new business and members to our town. The Board works hard to advocate with town officials and elected boards on behalf of all of our businesses.

The current NHBA Board is made up of Bill Kibby, Realtor with Kibby Homes LLC/ Bean Group, Tina Bosen, President at CCI Building Restoration & Waterproofing, Nancy-Jane Luff acting Executive Director, President, Renee Locke, General Manager Ninety-Nine Restaurant. We recently welcomed three new board members, Michelle Peckham, Attorney; Bailey McNeil, Director of Operations for The Maids of NH; and Shawn Salema, local owner of Dunkin’ and additional Dunkin’ operations in the area.

I can be reached at (603) 997-9676 or via email at president@nhba-local.com. You can always send a note to our NHBA email at info@nhba-local.com.

Thank you for supporting the NHBA.
